Over the last year, we’ve been celebrating our 10th Anniversary by sharing the story behind each of our acquisition brands that made us the innovative leader we are today.
E2 Technologies (E2T) was founded in Ventura, California in 1974 and has been well recognized in the petrochemical industry for more than 40 years. E2T is known as a specialist in the Sulfur Furnace Temperature (SRU) application.
Mikron Infrared acquired E2 Technologies in 2002, which enabled Mikron to further solidify its presence as a major supplier in the non-contact point temperature measurement market and significantly strengthen its competitive position. LumaSense continues to offer solutions for SRU applications and high temperature furnace applications as well as flare pilot monitoring.
Mikron E2T designed the M7000SR Series for continuous and instantaneous measurement of Refractory Temperature (RT), Gas Temperature (GT), and Integrated Temperature (FF) in the vessel away from the heat, vibration, and corrosive gases. The M7000SR paved the way for today’s E2T Quasar M8100 Flare Pilot Monitor.
E2T started offering the PULSAR for SRU monitoring in the late 1970’s and LumaSense introduced the latest PULSAR product last year. The PULSAR 4 reports both gas and refractory temperatures measurements simultaneously and corrects for Flame Transparency errors with our proprietary Flame Measurement Algorithm (FMA).

MIKRON Infrared, Inc., founded in 1969, was a pioneer in infrared thermometers and became a leader in thermal imaging and
blackbody calibration sources. LumaSense acquired Mikron in 2007 and now offers thermal imaging and blackbody calibration solutions for many applications including semiconductor, power generation, and industrial material processing.
Some of Mikron’s early offerings included the Mikron M67 / M67S and later M77 infrared pyrometers. TheMikron M67 featured a patented 2-wire interface to simplify installation and reduce total cost of ownership. The M67 (and successors M67S and M77) became a leading temperature measurement solution in many steel, metal heat treating, and glass processing applications. These products paved the way for many of the LumaSense Mikron offerings available today.
We invite you to learn more about our Mikron thermal imaging and blackbody calibration sources!
We are excited to share that we released the new IGAR 6 Advanced pyrometer today! The IGAR 6 Advanced is the latest addition to Series 6 family of pyrometers and is a highly accurate pyrometer for non-contact temperature measurement on metals, ceramics, graphite, etc. It is also our first pyrometer with a unique Smart Mode that allows for automatic transition between 1-color and 2-color operating modes!
Wow – we’re flattered! The INNOVA 1412i monitor’s contribution and popularity in the field of environmental science had never been more obvious to us until 200 researchers gathered for the International Symposium on Energy and Environmental Photocatalytic Materials in Wuhan, China! Attendees comprised of academics and researchers from around the world, including Japan, China, Korea, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Part of the conference involved discussing photocatalytic degradation of airborne pollutants as a promising technique for air purification applications and tools to use in this measurement. We were really proud to be part of this international event and witness many of the researchers that benefit from the superior features of our photoacoustic multi-gas monitors. Their work on the characterization and testing of innovative materials is reported in many publications.
Here is a short list of articles on research work that used the INNOVA 1412i monitor and whose author attended the conference:
Originally founded in 1969, Andros was the start of LumaSense’s gas portfolio when acquired in 2007. Today, Andros is complemented by our INNOVA gas monitors, allowing us to offer a wide range of gas sensing products for a variety of markets including, but not limited to energy, medical, automotive, and environmental.
Here are some of the great people behind the proven and continually innovative Andros offerings. We are proud that they are a part of the LumaSense family and sincerely thank them for their efforts over the years. Continue reading →
